Telkom ADSL speed increase update
Telkom is completing its ADSL speed upgrade project today (26 February 2014). This project saw 1 Mbps ADSL lines upgraded to 2 Mbps, 2 Mbps to 4 Mbps, and 4 Mbps to 10Mbps.
While most of Telkom’s ADSL clients have received the higher speeds, some clients could not be upgraded.
The possible reasons for not upgrading a line include that the modem is switched off, the quality of the copper is too low for higher speeds, or the distance from the exchange is too far.
Good news is that Telkom is addressing many of these issues. The company said that there is a continuous drive to upgrade all these customers to higher speeds.
“Telkom will continue to interrogate these subscribers’ modems to ensure that we have included all the DSL subscribers in the upgrade project,” Telkom said.
